Extract ZIP archives in your browser and save only the files you need.

Open a ZIP where double-clicking isn’t an option, and keep only the files you need
Windows and macOS open ZIP files on their own, but on a locked-down work PC or a phone, pulling a single document out of an archive is surprisingly awkward. This page unpacks the ZIP inside your browser, lists every file with its folder path and size, and lets you save only the ones you want. Neither the archive nor its password is sent to a server.
A closer look
When you drop a ZIP, an extraction engine bundled with the page unpacks it in a separate background thread of your browser. The status line moves through “Opening archive…”, “Reading file list…” and “Extracting…”, and when it finishes you see one row per file, with the folder path in front of the name and the size beside it. At that point everything is unpacked in browser memory, but nothing lands on your disk until you press Save on a row. That is why you can take two files out of an archive that holds hundreds without cluttering your Downloads folder.
Password-protected ZIPs are detected automatically and a password field appears. The password is handed to the extraction engine and nothing else; the “0 B uploaded” line under the results is a live measurement of what this page has actually sent. One difference is worth knowing. A row’s Save button downloads the file under its bare name, without the folder path, while Save all as ZIP builds a fresh archive named “original-extracted.zip” that keeps the folder structure. That new ZIP has no password, so if the original was encrypted, store the copy with the same care.
How to use it
- Drop the ZIP onto the area above or press Choose file. If you drop several at once only the first one opens, so add them one at a time.
- If the archive is encrypted, a password field appears. Type the password and press Extract with password, or just hit Enter.
- When “Done! N file(s) extracted” appears, check the paths and sizes and press Save next to each file you need.
- If there are too many files to save one by one, press Save all as ZIP to get a single archive with the folders intact.

Common snags
Tip If you only need one or two files, use the row’s Save button instead of Save all as ZIP; it skips building a copy, so it’s faster and uses less memory.
Unzip Online FAQ
Why use this instead of double-clicking?
It is handy on locked-down work computers, phones and tablets, or when you want to peek inside a ZIP and pull out just a few files instead of unpacking everything.
Are password-protected ZIPs supported?
Yes. A password field appears when the ZIP is encrypted. Your password never leaves the browser.
Some file names look garbled.
ZIPs created by very old tools may store names in a non-UTF-8 encoding, which can display incorrectly. The file contents still extract fine — save and rename them.
Is it safe?
Extraction happens entirely inside your browser, so files never travel over the network.
