zipmoa is the archive part of moatool (moatool.app), a family of free browser tools. It is built and maintained by one independent developer, not a company. It extracts ZIP, RAR and 7Z archives, creates ZIP files, encrypts files with AES-256 and renames files in bulk.
Why your archives are not uploaded
An archive holds many files at once, so uploading one can hand a stranger’s server a whole bundle of contracts or a company backup in one go. If it is password-protected, an online extractor needs the password too. So every zipmoa tool runs entirely inside your browser, and neither your files nor the password you type leave it. That also means you can open a RAR on a Mac or a locked-down work computer without installing anything.
How it stays free
With no server processing files, fixed costs are tiny, so the tools stay free with no sign-up or quotas. Running costs are covered by ads, and a paid Pro option removes them for people who prefer that. Ads have nothing to do with how your files are handled.
Limits stated up front
Because of licensing, RAR can only be extracted, not created, so the pages suggest ZIP when you repack. A ZIP locked with AES-256 opens in 7-Zip and similar apps, but not in Windows File Explorer or the built-in macOS tool. And a forgotten password cannot be recovered: nothing is stored on a server and there is no master key. Guides are in the blog (in Korean).
